Q: When attempting to run the demo or full game, the following error
message appears
under Windows Xp or 2000 Operating System:
"This application requires at least 3 Mb of free virtual memory to run". But I
have a lot more!!
A: Actually, this can occur if you have a very large amount of RAM
installed in your PC.
Try Setting Virtual Memory to a lower amount:
(If setting the Virtual Memory manually, the amount you will need to reduce this
setting
will vary from configuration to configuration. Generally, a maximum Virtual
Memory
setting of 200Mb or 512 Mb will prevent the error from occurring.)
VM setting procedure:
1)- Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, then
click System.
2)- Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Performance.
3)- Click the Advanced tab, and then click Change under Virtual memory.
4)- Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you
want to change.
5)- Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new
paging file size of
200/512 megabytes (Mb) in the Initial size (Mb) and Maximum size (Mb)
box, and then click Set.
6)- You may need to restart your PC afterwards.
Q: When opening the Game in demo or full mode under Windows Xp, NT or 2K
OSes,
I get the following error message:
"16 bit Windows Subsystem. C: WINDOWS/System32/Autoexec.NT
The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications.
Choose "Close" to terminate the application."
A:
This or similar "WOW DVM" error message comes because one or more of the
following files
file have been deleted or missing from your System32 folder for some reasons:
Config.nt
Autoexec.nt
Command.com
Solve it this way:
- Snoop around in your "c:\windows" folder and found one called "Repair"
- Go in there and find 2 files called "autoexec.nt" and "config.nt" file
- Just COPY them into your "c:\windows\system32" folder
- Reboot your machine
If your nearest dir after "c\" is not named " windows", but "winnt" or something
similar to "win"+"os"
instead, nevermind: open it anyway and browse in it untill you find the two above
mentioned files.
In other (very detailed) words, you have to:
1- Hold the windows key + E to open explorer (the key inbetween left Control
and Alt)
2- Click on the plus next to the local drive "C"
3- Click on the plus next to the "windows" folder
4- Click on the folder named "Repair"
5- In the right side window it will show "autoexec.nt" and "config.nt" along
with a few other files
6- Hold control and left click on "autoexec.nt" and" config.nt ". Right click
then select copy
7- Find system32 folder in the list to the left and right click and paste the
files in there
8- Click on start button and then turn off computer, select reboot.
If that file would be missing into the Repair Folder, expand them from the
install CD and copy
them to \WINos\System32. They'll be in the \I386 folder as:
Config.nt_
autoexec.nt_
command.co_
From a command prompt window, type "Expand /?" to get instructions for using
Expand.
Q: When opening the Game in demo or full mode under Windows Xp or 2K OSes,
I get the following error message (RARE)::
"(WorldCupFever: sexgame.exe - Bad Image)" and/or corresponding:
"The application or DLL C:\Windows\System32\wing.dll is not a valid Windows
image".
A: This mostly non fatal eror message appears whether your PC has "winG"
-the graphics accelerator software module by Microsoft- activated.
If the game quits afterwards or you cannot stand this nag message, you can bypass
it using
one of the followings:
1)- Download the little inifiles.zip from the Dowloading pages on our
server, unzip
it and put the one of the 3 (sexmas42.ini; sexact22.ini; sexext16.ini) having the
same name
of the Game you are playing into the Game directory.
If you have more than one Game, set proper ones accordingly too.
2)- Else: set the winG software control of your PC to "0".
Q: When opening the Game in demo or full mode under some Win OSes,
I get the following error message (VERY RARE):
"win16 subsystem unable to enter protected mode" and the game quits
afterwards
A: This message mostly comes when the DOSX.EXE file in not present anymore in
your AUTOEXEC.NT and in your path
You can fix this problem using one of this ways:
1)- Open My Computer. Go to the advanced tab. Click Environment variables. Look
for both
of the Path statements. Remove all the jibberish at
the beginning.
2)- If it exists there, restore the DOSX.EXE from C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DLLCACHE to
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32.
Else, copy it from another Win2K/XP/... system (whichever OS you
have) to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32.
Q: When I play, it appears as some sounds (Voice & effects) come later than
related actions in the Game.
A: Director's MacroMix technology provides the ability to blend sounds in
real-time on Windows at multiple
rate and resolution settings. To do this it creates mixing buffers which are
customized to the present sound card.
In some cases this causes brief delays. The length of the delay depends on the
size of the sound play buffers,
which in turn depends on the sound card in use. For example, the MediaVision
ProAudioSpectrum 16 will have a
delay from .03 seconds to .25 seconds while the SoundBlaster 16 will have a delay
from .25 to .5 seconds.
Q: I see you don't suggest any monitor color depth now, but on Win OS,
I have some problems with 8 one, while setting my monitor to thousands or
millions of colours,
everything works fine.
A: On low end machines under Win OS, the game trends to have some lockups
(even if now it is 32 bit native), depending on the system and video card drivers
configuration,
that usually disappear with the screen set to thousands or millions of
colours.
Q: When I play a Game of yours on a Pentium III under Win OS, I see it runs
slower then on my friend Pentium I machine!
A: Some middle performances PC machine players realize their copy of Sex
Game runs slower than
the one installed on a lower level machine. Due to incompatibilities among MM
Director for Windows Projectors
based (as our Sex Games are) with some old video cards or video card drivers,
with WinG, Video Accel
-the graphics accelerator software module by Microsoft- installation (excelling
at doing fats bitmaps copies but sometime making transitions much longer to
execute), and DirectX, another accelerator software for HS, you may get some
unpredictable results regarding reachable game speed.
Usual solution is to use the generic Microsoft SVGA (640x480x256) video driver
that ships with Windows or update your video card. See details at the end of
document. Else try enabling or disabling WinG or DirectX or Video Accel.
together or alternatively. If you are running under Win OSes, consider that
VRAGames Projectors for Windows are actually 32 bit native, but due to different
authoring platforms, theirs behaviour trend not to respect all the implied
features. Furthermore, remember that using a slow speed during Game playing,
regardless the machine capabilities,
is a little harder training but a very higher satisfaction.
Q: When I open the VRAGame on Mac OS, I get an error message saying:
"Cannot find MathLib Extension", then the application crashes and quits.
A: In Some Old Mac Operating Systems, (since 7.5 to 8.1), some Math Libraries
were not usually included during Install. In this case, please download this
Extension (124k)
from our server and then put it into the Extensions Folder of your System
Folder after decoding
and decompressing. In addiction, please remember that Extensions functionality
come after Machine
rebooting only.
Q: When I open the VRAGame on Win OS, I get an error message saying:
This program has caused a"GPF" error in xxx memory location. Then the
application crashes and quits.
A: Before checking video cards or other hardware compatibility, (see below),
we suggest that you simply try to increase the color depth of your monitor and to
launch the Sex Game again.
It often overcomes the problem. If the problem persists, this usually happens
when an old video driver overwrites some areas of memory needed by different
resources. The most common solution is to to use the generic Microsoft SVGA
(640x480x256) video driver that ships with Windows, or to update your video card,
but he most frequent causes of this problem would include:
1)- A multimedia shell is in use on a low-end machine so reducing system
resources and available RAM below a workable level.
Solution: Close ALL open application and
follow instructions for increasing ram system memory on your syst machine.
2)- A particular older video drivers which improperly overwrite areas of memory.
needed by different resources.
Solution: Use the generic Microsoft SVGA (640x480x256) video driver that
ships with Windows or update your video card. -Details at the end of document
3)- In some cases a multimedia system shell running on an under powered
machine can cause the same problem.
Solution: close all open and background applications before launching the Game
again.
Other generic reasons for error messages would include:
* Printer driver conflicts
* A large number of fonts on the system
* Incorrect memory exclusion settings for a particular video card
(See particular card documentation for recommendations)
* Startup items conflicts
* Network software conflicts
* Anything else corruped item or file or font loaded on the Windows machine
Testing the video card driver and looking for the most common Windows system
problems are
the two good places to start. Simplify when possible your Windows system to a
base system.
Particular video or sound or printer drivers or extensions which can create
problems
with memory overwriting: (Report extracts):
A)- Cirrus Logic video card drivers
Early versions of the Cirrus Logic drivers were reported to cause problems.
Make sure that you have one of the latest display drivers from Cirrus Logic.
Many Compaq machines ship with these video cards.
B)- ATI MACH video cards
"For all MACH boards, you will need to set DeviceBitmap=OFF in the Windows
SYSTEM.INI file [MACX]
section after card software installation if using this driver version."
C)- Compaq Qvision 2000 and Matrox MGA cards
The settings for these cards are similar to that for the ATI cards. In
the SYSTEM.INI, you will need to set "DevBits = OFF" in the [MGA]
section. This is also described in the documentation for the individual cards.
D)- Compaq Qvision video cards
It is recommended to run with DISPLAY.DRV = CPQLQV08.EXE and not DISPLAY.
DRV = CPQHQV08.EXE in the SYSTEM.INI when using this video card. Please
do not change these settings by hand; instead consult the documentation
that ships with the latest version of the driver.
E)- Spea Media FX soundcard (sometimes)
F)- Scantastic Scanner (Macintosh only)
Some Director 5 projector are not compatible with Scantastic Access, a system
extension that ships with the
scanning application Scantastic.
G)- Some printer drivers causing error message, upon launching. These were:
* The HP LaserJet Driver, version 5.0
* Windows QMS PS printer driver, version 2.4.7.06-01,or version 2.4.8 CTA
* QMS 810 black & white printer driver
* Bitfax fax driver (Setting Epson dot matrix driver as the default should
solve the problem) Selecting a different printer, or no default printer,
and restarting Windows will usually fix the problem.
- How to switch your video card driver to SVGA:
a)- Open the Windows Control Panel
b)- Under menu Options, select "Change System Settings" (Take note of
the actual setting)
c)- Under Display, select SVGA 640x480x256 (not linear) or CHIPS XXXxx
640x480x256
d)- Restart Windows
Audio and Video Problems under Windows 2000 and NT
OSes:
Q: Users on Windows NT without administrative privileges are unable to hear
sounds during Game Playing?
A: This appears to be a issue when Intel's Real Sound Experience (RSX)
technology has been installed by an administrator (of a particular machine) and
permissions have not been set to allow RSX to function correctly when
non-administrators are logged onto the machine.
To solve the problem you (as an administrator of the machine or machines in
question) will need to set the permissions on a particular Registry Key so that
all users will have full control of and access to that Registry Key.
To make changes in the Registry Key for RSX do the following:
a)- Type "regedt32" from the Start/Run menu and hit 'return'.
b)- Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\Realistic Sound Experience key.
c)- Highlight '2.0' and then go to the 'Security' menu and choose
'Permissions'.
d)- Highlight 'Everyone' and change to 'Full Control'.
Q: I tried everything but I am still unable to hear Sounds in your Games while
playing. Any further hints?
A: The followings are some suggested workarounds which sometimes can bypass
this problem in NT
for MM 5 Projectors:
* Games won't play sound if someone has mixed up the DirectX stuff
(like, say, mistakenly installing DirectX 5 under NT).
* Try re-installing NT Service Pack 3 and see if that helps. It works on a few
occations.
* You might also try de-installing the Intel RSX , if its there.
* With QT3 installed,Prjector doesn't support multiple configures itself to
output to the WAVE device.
This means that under NT, they lose the benefit of the DirectSound mixer."
* If you can, try installing the most recent release of DirectSound, at least the
DirectSound5 version.
Q: What Video and Audio cards have been tested with Dir 10 Projectors on Win NT
Os?
A: Dir 10 Projectors require Video and Audio software drivers and
hardware that fully support Windows NT standards.
The following video and audio systems have been tested and found to be compatible
with Projectors.
We recommend installing the latest available video and audio hardware and
software.
Contact the card manufacturer for information and to obtain the latest drivers.
Naturally, projectors playing are not limited to these systems.

If you experience difficulties with a card that is not on this list, contact the
hardware
manufacturer to find out if the problem can been addressed with an updated
driver.
First, we suggest you to switch your video card drivers to SVGA
To switch a video card driver in NT:
| 1 | Open the Windows Setup program in
the Main Group of the Program Manager. | | 2
| Choose Options -> Change System Settings. |
| 3
| Under Display, select SVGA (640 x 480 x 256). |
| 4
| Restart Windows and try to reproduce the General Protection
Fault. | | |
To switch a video
card driver in Windows NT 4.0:
| 1
| Right click the desktop. | | 2
| Choose Properites. | | 3 | Select
Settings. | | 4 | Click Display Type. |
| 5 | Under Adapter Type click Change Display
Adapter. | | 6 | Click "show all
devices". | | 7 | On the left scroll all the way to
the top to "standard display types". | | 8
| On the left choose VGA mode or Super VGA. |
| 9
|
Close all the open windows and restart. | |
|
This should resolve your problems, because you are now working in a standardized
Windows configuration.
This means that you may need to experiment with different video card drivers
that work with your computer's video card.
Windows NT: Sound Cards
A particular system's sound card driver might not handle any or all of the sounds
specs needed in our Games, or, there may be insufficient system throughput, or
there's some interaction with another system device driver (e.g. the SVGA driver,
etc.) ... as a result, Games may not be able to handle a particular combination
of sound processing, decompression, animation, transitions, disk access, etc.
There are many possible reasons why sound might not play, or a certain sound
might interfere with other Game Projector functions.
The following sound cards and successive releases have been tested in Windows NT
and are compatible with Playing.
